NIGERIAN FEDERAL GOVT. WOOS GRERNWILLE LNG
The Federal Government of Nigeria had in 2007 laid a foundation stone for the Brass (Bayelsa State) Liquified Natural Gas (BLNG). It was abandoned since then till now, 2022.
This project which is worth $20 Billion was expected on completion, to create thousands of new jobs in the northern and southern Nigeria and particularly in Bayelsa and Rivers States. It was to spur domestic gas demand, generate enough electricity, create an opportunity to diversify revenue for the Federal Government, strengthen the country's revenue base and turn the country into a dorminant geopolitical player in Africa.
But lack of final investment decision stalled this project. Imagine the benefits projected from only Bayesa Liquified Gas plant, if implemented far back then. Talk less of adding benefits from Bonny LNG, no African country would rob shoulders or come close to the wealth of Nigeria. How do u vote?
