Since it was a pandemic period, it was necessary to cancel Xmas festivals in countries which are highly affected by covid 19 in order to contain it's spreading. Xmas is a day like other days and people have been celebrating Xmas every single and nothing will happen when it's being cancelled because it's not more important than people's lives and it's irrelevant when there's no people to celebrate it.

Are governments correct to effectively cancel Christmas?

In the UK, England particularly, the government has today, effectively cancelled Christmas, especially in London and much of the South East, in an attempt to stem the spread of Covid-19, and we are told governments across most of Europe are implementing similar measures. Are they correct to do so?

i think its not right for government to cancel chrismas, this is the which to be decided by religiuos leaders as they are the ones to guide their flock but not politicqal leaders.
