Is the US Electoral College Voting System Antiquated?

The US Presidential Elections has used this voting system since beginning where States are allocated number of College Votes as it varies for each States. This seems to forecast most States towards either major parties leaving only several States where the results counts to determine its outcomes. Should this voting system change where either States are taken into equal electoral representation or by popular vote?

How do you vote?

The Electorial College protects the votes of all people, especially in low populated areas.
This is why America is a Democratic Republic.
If America was a pure democracy, then simply the cities with the most people (i.e. New York city and Los Angeles, California) would control everything for the whole country.

The whole country does not need the exact same things as 2 costal cities or even just a few spread out cities, people need different things all over the place. This is why the electorial college exists and needs to be protected for future generations to come.

This is why some people want to get rid of the electorial college as antiquated now, because later down the road after it is gone, they want to control the USA country (and the world by extension) from just a few cities' votes. That is not right and that does not represent the will of We The People.

If you are not aware of this danger in getting rid of the Electorial College, then go read more history.
