I don't agree..social media in Uganda is taxable, internet you need data, u need agadget like smart phone to use social media of which u need to charge it and electricity bills are high

Social media tax was put in Uganda to reduce the number of young youths from using the internet to talk the bad about the government. Little did the government know that covid-19 Could come and they need the internet and social media so much than ever before. The president who said it's for rumors can't take a day without posting BZ we a near campaigns. I think the reason for social media tax was unjust

Yes because young people today are making money I just through online or internet services and not only in Uganda but also in these other countries

We're in information technology era where by people communicate easily via various social media sites including Uganda though being ruled by outdated people who doesn't respect the flow of information amongst Ugandans, ended up levying higher taxes on social media usage in Uganda for political reasons.

A heavy tax was imposed on Ugandan social media to eliminate or reduce criticism of the government. This was done also to minimise hate-speech on public figures and personalities.

These social medias have wiped away iginorence amongst communities to a certain level, hence creating awareness. In other words people getting infomed. They have also cut short expenses, whereby if one is to inform a hundred people at ago, it is easy possible and quick.

With no doubt its completely right because,due to the OTT tax still the people are using the internet all i see is that Ugandans have a lot of money to waste than to invest in any productive thing like YEM.

100% though the government had put tight taxation policy on internet uses but still Ugandans are using social Medea at high rate

The use of social media is effective it's like almost 66% of Ugandan population who uses social media I don't even imagine life without social media because most of the breaking news are on social media

They put the taxes on social media to reduce the number of people to use the social media because it is this social media that can make the opposition mobilise compaigns online and thos is dangerous to the ruling party
