This can be deep veins DVT or in the Pulmonary vessels, Pulmonary embolism.

DVT is the presence of coagulated blood, a thrombus, in one of the deep venous conduits that return blood to the heart.

Most commonly involves the deep veins of the leg or arm, often resulting in potentially life-threatening emboli to the lungs or debilitating valvular dysfunction and chronic leg swelling.
Annual incidence of approximately 1:1000 in western population.

Relative incidence of DVT :PE is approximately 2:1.

Mortality 30 days after DVT is approximately 10% for DVT and compared to 15% for PE.

All forms of VTE are increasingly common with age and many of the deaths are related to coexisting medical conditions.
